About Me
In case you can’t tell by my pictures, I really love animals (& people are pretty cool too!) I am passionate about mental health and helping people find passion and meaning in their lives. I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville University with a specialization in Marriage & Family. I have been working in mental health and with persons with disabilities for the last 13 years. I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities and sexual orientations. My background includes working with individuals with traumatic and acquired brain injuries, severe and persistent mental illness and developmental disabilities. For the last couple years I ran a psychosocial rehabilitation program for a local non-profit community behavioral health center. I have many years of experience working with individuals with PTSD, depression & anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, borderline personality disorder, sexual disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.
My journey in mental health and wellness began 13 years ago when I first graduated college and started working in the fashion industry in New York City. It was fast-paced and exciting, but my days were spent around a lot of superficial and materialistic nonsense that left me feeling unsatisfied and searching for more. When I moved back to Florida, I decided I wanted to find a job where I could help people and was hired to provide life coaching and employment coaching for a non-profit who provided services to the brain and spinal cord injury program and individuals with developmental and acquired disabilities. I loved my work and decided to pursue it independently in 2009 after the non-profit closed it’s doors due to financial hardship. Over the last decade I have worked coaching individuals of all ages and walks of life and logged thousands of hours of clinical experience. My long term goal is to open a holistic wellness center in Jax (the first of it’s kind) to offer counseling, meditation classes, yoga classes, massage therapy, and equine and animal assisted therapy services. I am passionate about bringing the animal-human bond to mental health in North Florida and hope to acquire the funding in the future to bring this vision to life. I am currently offering individualized counseling and life coaching packages for adults, couples and teens. I provide the flexibility of offering in-office sessions as well as community based and teletherapy options to accommodate all kinds of schedules. Please send me an email at Katrinanwitt@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if I can help you and your personal needs.
